Lohman are renowned for producing high quality but affordable calls, when calling was less popular in the UK one of the only brands you could find was a Lohman. They then seemed to take a backseat and the now extensive range has just started to re-emerge following the acquisition of Kolpin/Lohman by Decoy giant, Flambeau.

Like all calls we sell we have tried and tested this Lohman Call, we have not just read the instructions on the back of the box like some sellers! So here’s what we think:

The Lohman Wooden Crow Calls have been favourites out in the USA for over 50 years an when you try one it is pretty clear why – excellent volume and a really great rasp, just like a old Carrion. This is a wooden call and so it is a little bit “softer” than a plastic call and it has a lower and deeper pitch than a plastic. Maybe the volume won’t travel just as far as the higher pitched plastic but that won’t usually be an issue in the UK. A good call in woodland and over decoys. We would recommend using it in conjunction with one of our plastic calls such as the Haydel's TC87, this way you can create a huge selection of calls across a broad tonal range. Switching from one call to another when you can’t turn a bird is often very successful.
