The Highlander Military Waterproof & Breathable Jacket is manufactured to a very high standard in the style of the British Army issue Goretex Jacket.

The jacket features a two way front zip with a double storm flap that secures with Velcro. There are two large front pockets which close with a zip and then have a flap over the pocket to help stop water entering the pocket. The jacket has an attached hood which conveniently stows into the back of the collar. Storm cuffs are provided by Velcro. There is an elasticated drawcord hem which can be pulled in to retain warmth.

The Jacket is constructed using lightweight Waterproof and Breathable AB-Tex fabric. All seams are taped to prevent leakage. We have sold Highlander Jackets constructed from AB-Tex for many years and have supplied numerous Shooting Estates with these Jackets for their Gamekeepers and Stalkers. These Jackets have been extensivley used on demanding Scottish Highland Estates and locally by the Gamekeepers on Raby Estate. We have had only excellant feedback on Highlander Jackets and the performance of the AB-Tex Waterproof & Breathable cloth.

AB-Tex has a Waterproof Hydrostatic Head of 5000mm. The term hydrostatic head is used to denote the amount of water pressure required to penetrate the fabric. To measure the the amount of pressure required to penetrate the cloth a column of water is placed on the fabric and it is then increased until it penetrates the fabric. The British MOD definition for a waterproof fabric is that it must resist a 800mm colum of water (800mm Hydrostatic Head). The industry standard for the definition of "Waterproof" is a hydrostatic head of 1000mm. An hydrostatic head of 2000mm or more will take care of most European Rain conditions in all seasons. AB-Tex exceeds these standards, it has an hydrostatic head of 5000mm.
